Finding Caterers: A Guide

About Me
How i Learnt to Love Cooking

Hello! My name is Roland and this is my cookery blog. For a very long time, I didn't really think about cooking. At home, my wife did all of the food preparation and at work, I would often buy pre-prepared food from a local shop. All that changed when my friend invited me to an evening cookery class for beginners. i thought i would hate it but, the true is, I loved every minute of it. I learnt so much cool stuff that I decided to start a blog to explore all of the new skills and knowledge I have picked up.

Finding Caterers: A Guide

If you are planning a large event, you may be on the search for a team of people who can provide food and drink to your guests. Professional catering companies are geared up to provide just this kind of service. However, not all catering teams offer the same services. Read on to find out more about what to look for in a catering team.

A wide-ranging menu

When it comes to high-quality catering, choice is everything. If your guests only have a limited choice of foods, then they may feel a little bit disappointed. With this in mind, it makes sense to search out a company that offers a wide-ranging menu. Ideally, you should be able to meet with the catering team beforehand to work on the menu together to ensure that it is balanced but varied. If possible, you should attend a tasting event where you will be able to try small samples of the dishes to ensure they meet your standards.

Staff to serve the food

Not all caterers will provide staff. Some will simply deliver the food, set it up so that it is ready to eat and then depart, leaving guests to help themselves. If you are planning a buffet, this might suit you well. However, if you plan a more formal occasion with table service, it pays to hire a company that also provides staff who will look after guests and serve the food and drink when the time is right.

 A selection of alcoholic drinks

If you would like to serve alcoholic drinks at your event, you will need to locate a caterer who has a licence enabling them to do so. You will also need to decide if you would like a bar set up at your event, where guests can pay for their own drinks, or if you would like complimentary drinks served on trays when guests arrive and during key points in the meal.

Deposit and invoice system

Finally, you will need to think about how you are going to pay for the catering. If you would like to avoid paying upfront, you should look for a company that is willing to accept a deposit before the event on the understanding that you will settle the amount when invoiced at a later date.
